EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TSA

I'm airport blogging! I took the opportunity to ask Transportation Safety Agency personnel at a regional airport in the Southern United States.

DAVE: May I ask you a question?

AGENT "CHARLES": Yeah.

DAVE: I heard, in response to the Christmas Attempted Bombing, some airlines are prohibiting reading books within an hour of take-off and landing. Does that strike you as an overly literal response?

AGENT "CHARLES": [Nodding vigorously] Yes.

WHAT IF?

I'm watching "Pearl Harbor: Dawn of Death" on CW. It's amazing to consider that when Franklin Roosevelt learned about the Japanese attack, he spent eight minutes reading "My Pet Goat" to schoolchildren, and then spent the rest of the morning flying back and forth across the Midwest.

Years ago I commented that a US invasion of Iran would unite the country against the US. The only thing that could have stopped the revolution would have been our invasion. Aren't we glad Dick Cheney didn't get his way? I should check to see if conservatives are calling for an invasion, but the answer would probably depress me.

While I think its sad that anyone could be convicted in a modern trial in which the prosecution theories includes allegations of witchcraft, I suspected Amanda Knox was guilty when I read the words "24 year-old Italian boyfriend" in an early news article on the case. Interestingly, she is not the first Seattle Prep grad to be convicted of homicide.

Can someone give me a historic example of when the US has successfully installed a stable and democratic government in Asia by force?

Andy McCarthy at NRO: "I didn't suggest that Bill Ayers is the author of one of Barack Obama's biographies — I reported that someone else had made the suggestion and had made an interesting case, and that Obama was not helping matters by refusing to disclose any of his prior writings which might put any doubt to rest by demontrating [sic] his writing skills."

You can tell he's a Sarah Palin fan.
Please note that I'm undermining my own argument by not use relevant and pertinent examples, but that's because I'm lazy, not because I am stupid.

MEDIA WATCH

I listen to the Michael Medved Show occasionally, tuning in for fifteen minutes here and there while running errands, usually about three or four times a week. This week, I've listened three times, and two separate callers detailed the necessity of murdering Nancy Pelosi (one advocated an ad hoc firing squad, the other slavered over the necessity of strangulation). Statistically, that's kind of high, isn't it?

At first I thought this was pretty obnoxious, but then I started to think about the possibilities. For my memorial garden, I'd like to displace an orphanage or a homeless shelter, or both.

OBAMA'S POPULARITY PLUMMET

From my cursory reading of a few right-wing web sites, there's a lot of gleeful cackling over Obama's favorability rating "plummeting" to 47%.

Bush's popularity was 47% in August 2001.

And at that point, Bush hadn't done anything.
