Mark Steyn makes a point in this Corner post that reminds me to develop my theory that we're in a political cycle of repeated history as farce. If the right-winger's Sixties were the Nineties, that means that we're in the Eighties, and facing an Obama electoral sweep over Palin in 2012. No doubt Steyn sees things much the same way, except he probably thinks Obama is George Bush (the first one) in this scenario. Make sense?

WHAT IF?

I'm watching "Pearl Harbor: Dawn of Death" on CW. It's amazing to consider that when Franklin Roosevelt learned about the Japanese attack, he spent eight minutes reading "My Pet Goat" to schoolchildren, and then spent the rest of the morning flying back and forth across the Midwest.

Years ago I commented that a US invasion of Iran would unite the country against the US. The only thing that could have stopped the revolution would have been our invasion. Aren't we glad Dick Cheney didn't get his way? I should check to see if conservatives are calling for an invasion, but the answer would probably depress me.

While I think its sad that anyone could be convicted in a modern trial in which the prosecution theories includes allegations of witchcraft, I suspected Amanda Knox was guilty when I read the words "24 year-old Italian boyfriend" in an early news article on the case. Interestingly, she is not the first Seattle Prep grad to be convicted of homicide.

I listen to the Michael Medved Show occasionally, tuning in for fifteen minutes here and there while running errands, usually about three or four times a week. This week, I've listened three times, and two separate callers detailed the necessity of murdering Nancy Pelosi (one advocated an ad hoc firing squad, the other slavered over the necessity of strangulation). Statistically, that's kind of high, isn't it?
